Since its incorporation in 1995, Lydia’s House has helped more than
275 abused women and their children build new lives, and now has
the capacity to serve 35 families.
The
transitional housing Lydia’s House provides is a vital bridge
for abused women and their children, providing the time and support
necessary for them to move from a 30 to 90 day stay in an emergency
shelter to safe, independent, permanent housing. A few months
in an emergency shelter is simply not enough time to build a new
life, so Lydia's House provides a safe haven for women and children
for up to two years
while they find employment and housing as well as seek the medical
and legal help they need.
Our program works! After leaving Lydia's House, 85% of clients have permanent housing
and self-sustaining employment.
