Transitional Housing

Transitional Housing is a vital bridge for women and children that have experienced domestic violence and are in need of additional time, space and support to rebuild safe and independent lives. Emergency domestic violence shelters provide 30-90 days of safety for women and children, which is a critical service for those fleeing abuse, but is often not enough time for families to find safe, permanent housing; utilize medical, legal, and other services; and gain access to community resources.

Statistics tell us that women leaving an abusive relationship leave on an average of seven times before they leave for good – often because they do not have the resources they need to live independently. Lydia's House empowers women and children to rebuild safe, independent lives, and indeed, 85% of women leave with permanent housing and self-sustaining employment.
