Lydia’s House partners with Volunteers to tap into skills, experiences and talents beyond what our excellent professional staff members already bring to our mission. We welcome Volunteers in a variety of roles, including activities that directly support our services for our residents, employees, and leadership positions.

Connect with our community and support Lydia’s House mission to be a voice of hope for survivors. Ambassador activities include craft fairs and other outreach events.


Volunteers serve as essential office support in our Development and Communication Departments.

Cell Phone Drives

Earn service hours by recycling cell phones with our partner, Shelter Alliance. Every 3 phones equals 1 service hour!

Children’s Program

Come serve as a tutor and playmate to our children while setting a positive example and helping them in their journey to violence-free lives.

Help Lydia’s House manage our events while giving you the chance to develop leadership and networking skills – great for your resume!

Internships & Practicums

We offer spots in our Children’s Program, Development, and Communications Departments.

Skilled Labor

You can help with upkeep and renovations of our 50 apartments, using skills like plumbing, carpentry, painting, electric, gardening and construction.


Community Meal

Get your group together to provide a community meal for the women and children at Lydia’s House. Meals are served every Wednesday night at 6:30 pm.

Donation Drives

Drives can be a fun way to energize your group and attract new members. We will provide support, including a speaker to kick-off/conclude the drive, and pick up of the items.

Hands-On Projects

Come onsite to learn about and serve Lydia’s House. Activities include prepping apartments for new families, painting, lawn care, cleaning, donation organizing, and more. Groups will go through a 30-minute orientation prior to service and conclude with a brief reflection.
